Grant Request Guidelines |
|
To be eligible for a grant, an organization must be exempt from taxation under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code and not a private foundation within the meaning of Section 509(a) of the Code. Giving is primarily in Texas with preference to programs that directly impact Southeast Texas and limited giving in Southwest Louisiana. No grants are made to individuals or for endowment purposes. The Foundation has no formal application form. Grant request deadlines are March 1, June 1 and October 1. Elaborate presentations are unnecessary. The substance of the proposal is more important than the form. The Foundation requests that organizations limit requests to only once during a twelve month period, regardless if an application was approved or denied during the previous year. For organizations receiving a multi-year grant, the Foundation prefers to consider applications only after the multi-year grant is completed. The Grant Committee currently has agreed to focus on the areas of education, health and social services. To determine interest, the Grant Committee requests a Letter of Proposal containing the following information: ▪ Description of the project signed by the President or CEO
▪ Brief history, description, programs and mission of the organization
▪ Project timeline (beginning and ending dates)
▪ Specific amount requested
▪ List of other funding sources and amounts
▪ List of Board of Directors and occupations
▪ Form 990 for most recent year-end
▪ Most recent audited financial statements OR organization prepared statements
▪ Current copy of IRS Determination Letter certifying tax-exempt status
Submitted materials will become the property of the Foundation and will not be returned. If the Grant Committee determines the project to be within the scope of Foundation interests and funding, the organization may be requested to furnish additional information pertinent to the proposal. Grant requests should be submitted to: Grant Department U.S. Mail: Physical Delivery: |
